I've played since I was five, actually. ^.^ I don't remember why I wanted to, but my mom said it was the book "Zin, Zin, A Violin!" I'm just glad my parents gave in and I met such great people who've helped me learn.
Plus, it's never too late to learn! I know some good violinists who started in high school.
